Diamond Ortiz – Special Request – Cassette

Bay Area multi-instrumentalist Diamond Ortiz brings you his first full-length physical release with Special Request, following 2014s Zooted 7 and 2015s Boomerang EP. Opting this time for a cassette release, fans of all things on the one can also expect to see vinyl at some point in the near future.

In any format, Special Request stands as a further testament to the juicy, hard-bottomed slabs of funk that Ortiz is known to serve up, combining licks from all of his weapons of choice – analog synth, vocoder, talkbox, guitar, and bass. He runs the gamut, from his frenetically paced ode to Roger Troutmans gutter Ohio funk on Playeristic Tendencies to the more austere, yet still danceable, boogie-laced feel of Slow Mo. For those who prefer their music to have the stank in it, Special Request is the perfect soundtrack.
