- The Royer R-10-MP is a matched pair of passive ribbon microphones designed for smooth, full-range frequency reproduction and excellent high-SPL handling in home studios, professional recording facilities, and live sound environments. Handbuilt in California, each microphone handles sound pressure levels of up to 135 dB at 50 Hz and 160 dB at 1 kHz, with a wide, natural, and unhyped frequency response ranging from 30 Hz to 15 kHz. The R-10 features a standard 3-pin XLR output and does not require phantom power.
- Its figure-8 polar pattern captures sound equally from the front and rear of the microphone while providing strong rejection from the sides. This allows for focused on-axis pickup and natural capture of room ambience from behind the microphone. The 2.5-micron aluminum ribbon element is internally shock-mounted to reduce vibration, while a three-layer windscreen system controls plosives, air blasts, and proximity-effect bass buildup.
